Stop Squawking About #$%&! Flag Pins
July 2, 2008
He was a man who grew up poor. He was a surveyor, and later a farmer.
He was a patriot. By the time he was 20, he was appointed as a military leader. He fought in countless battles and became known as a man others widely respected and loved to follow.
He was a married man. He helped shape the formation of one of the most powerful countries in the world, and is widely considered the face of this great nation.
And he probably never wore a damn flag pin. Why? He didn’t need to (and they probably did not exist at the time).
Who was this man?
That man I loosely describe is George Washington. Washington has been consistently ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents, all BFP (Before Flag Pin).
If wearing a flag pin makes you more of an American, why stop at one? Why not wear a pin on each lapel, or arrange flag pins in the shape of a heart and wear a ton of them?
Even the man labeled as “The Greatest American” (said with echoing sound effect) was captured . . .not wearing a flag pin. Shock! And guess what? That man is Ronald Reagan.
Look at the photo to your left. See no flag pin. He must have been a complete disaster as a President.
Real Americans don’t need flag pins. Their actions and their passion speak for their patriotism.
