How to Make a Spicy Tuna Roll Sandwich

September 30, 2007

Sarah and I love sushi. One of the rolls we get on a regular basis is the spicy tuna roll. Nothing too out of the ordinary, just good.

So what better way to improve the ordinary tuna fish sandwich? I say push the dill pickle and celery aside and get spicy. I got this idea one day when I came home for lunch and could find nothing interesting to eat, and my options were limited to my pantry and the condiments in my refrigerator.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 T Wasabi paste
3 T light mayo
1 t sesame oil (if you have it)
1/2 chopped red bell pepper
one can tuna fish
a few slices of cucumber
a couple slices of tomato
lettuce or sprouts
2 slices of your favorite whole grain bread

In a bowl mix together the Wasabi paste, mayo, sesame oil and red bell peppers.

Drain the tuna and add the tuna to the bowl. Mix well. Place the tuna on top of one of the slices of bread, then top with cucumber, tomato, lettuce and/or sprouts. Slap the other slice of bread on top, and you’re in business.

Just makes me chuckle! Espcially the “you’re in business” part. Where have we heard that before?

Is that something Grandfather used to say? You’ve got to give this a try. It’s the only way I’ll eat a tunafish sandwich anymore.
