When I was younger, so much younger than today. . . . .I played soccer. It was the first sport I ever played, and one I still dream about.
There is a playfulness about soccer that anyone can appreciate. In most of the world, you can’t go a day without having a ball cross your path, at least not while the World Cup is in focus. For anyone who has ever kicked a ball over to a mate, stolen one from an opposing attacker, or headed one into the net, I salute you!
This is our time. This is our game. Regardless of all of those things that separate us, we can all still meet on the pitch and compete. And the world will celebrate.
Regardless of who carries away the Cup, I am optimistic that it brings us all closer. Until then, game on!
